The Secret to printing real trading cards

Once you download and install the templates, simply plug in the picture, add information into the provided spaces, and you're ready to print.

Simply use the Greeting Card button in the Share menu of software to order your printed trading cards.  When you are prompted, select the Trading Card option.  From there you will be walked  through a step-by-step process for making your cards.

From Photoshop to My Memories Suite

I thought it would be fun to try a theory of mine out and I was so thrilled with the results I had to share on the blog.

I originally created this layout a while back when the Ette's first shared their new Dude Collection with me. I couldn't wait to scrapbook something, so I threw a few items into Photoshop and created this layout. But then I needed a sample layout for a project for My Memories Suite and figured I'd recreate it. I tell all my friends that I can pretty much create anything in My Memories Suite that they design in Photoshop.

So I opened up My Memories Suite and started with a blank page and started creating my layout. I didn't have the original to look at so I forgot about the extra green circle and arrows and I couldn't find the same photo. But I think they're pretty darn close and I was very excited to show my friends the results. I actually showed them the two layouts, side-by-side and asked them to pick which one was done in My Memories Suite and which in Photoshop. They couldn't figure it out!!!

How-to Create a Digital Photo Collage

I was surfing around some of my favorite scrapbooking websites this afternoon and an article title caught my eye. It was called "How to Create a Digital Photo Collage" on Scrapbook, Etc by Tracy Kyle. I opened the article and read through the 11 pages of instructions (mostly images) on how to create this type of layout in Photoshop. But my attention is very limited in the afternoon and I decided to try the same thing in My Memories Suite.

The baby layout below was the end result. I simply opened up a blank page in My Memories Suite, starting from scratch. I then dropped in "photo blocks" where I need them and then drag & dropped my photos into place.

So here's a Tip for Photoshop Users: Skip your normal program and use My Memories Suite to create great collages in minutes. And the great thing about doing a photo collage in My Memories Suite is that the program does all the work for you, it resizes the photo automatically to fit within the photo box. I only had to center and zoom in a bit on a couple photos and I was done!

To create photobooks from My Memories Suite:

1. Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
2. Select Photobook from the Share menu.
3. Select the pages from your album to be included in your photobook.

Book Layout Guides:

My Memories Suite provides guides (under the View menu - shown here) that help you make sure your text and images won’t get cut off. (Photobook pages are typically trimmed 1/8"-1/4" from what is displayed on the My Memories Suite canvas.) Make sure you review your book with these guides for maximum satisfaction.

Tip for Photoshop Users:

My Memories Suite is a great companion software for photoshop users as well. Create your 12x12 layouts in photoshop and when you're ready to create a book, simply open up a blank square book and bring your JPG images in as "custom backgrounds". You can build an entire book or add in pages to an existing MMS templates this way.

Great Gift Ideas for the Holidays!

Christmas Time's A Comin'!!

Last Christmas, when I first laid my hands on the My Memories Suite software, I immediately realized that with all the great designs and the easy-to-use program, I would be able to find a million uses for the software. Sure, I love digital scrapbooking! But I also love all the other fabulous things I can do with the program. The possibilities are really endless.

The holidays are just right around the corner. If you are like me and like to make your own Christmas gifts, or if you just like to add a little bit of flair to your purchased gifts, the My Memories Suite software can really help with that! And I’d like to show you an idea that I’m going to use this Christmas.

I enjoy canning foods—you know, things like pickles, jams, pumpkin pie mix, cider, pie fillings, etc. This year, I’m going to be giving homemade canned treats to all the friends, teachers, neighbors, coworkers, well…you get the picture. We’ve all seen the jars of different mixes at Christmas that have the pretty fabric and the bow on top. While those are pretty, I was trying to think of a way that I can package my goodies and express my personality as well. Then I thought, What about making fun labels?!

I’ve made some jar labels to show you, and I’d have to say that making them was fun and incredibly fast. To make a jar label, simply create your design, print on regular printer paper, cut out, and glue to the jar. I used a glue stick, and that worked very well. (Hint: if you have an ink jet printer, consider spraying the paper with a light coating of clear spray paint to keep the ink from smearing with the glue.) In no time at all, the jars were transformed into cute gifts. And there’s really no need to measure anything, because you can cut it down to size. I printed my designs out as a 6x6” square, and they worked great for the quart sized jars.

Here are some jar labels I made. I used StoryRock’s “Twilight Fanpire” to create the pickle label, and I used Corina Nielson’s “Totally Eclectic” pack to create the marinade label.

I enjoyed my jar labels so much, I realized that making labels for jars doesn’t have to be limited to Christmas only. I got to thinking that a cute jar full of pumpkin pie mix or cider mix would make a great hostess gift at Thanksgiving or a fall party. I personally love the Harvest Blessing pack by StoryRock, so I made a cute pumpkin pie jar label with the pack.

So, there you have it….an easy and simple way to give your Christmas gifts some “oomph” and personality! It doesn’t have to end there, either. Think of all the other great things around your house that you can label with beautiful labels made with My Memories Suite! You could label not only jars, but gift boxes, kids’ toy containers, buckets, etc.

Photobooks are Growing in Popularity

I am fascinated by photobooks! I've been an avid scrapbooker for 14+ years and love the layered look that paper brings. I'm a tactile person and love the look and feel of embellishments or textured paper on my layouts. However, have you see an entire photobook in person?

The first time I saw a book by my friend that featured an entire year of her family's life, events and celebrations I was amazed. I loved that it was DONE...an entire year in one 12x12" hardbound book with beautiful photographs, tons of journally and something that would look create on my coffee table (my family of course, not hers). 

I purchased the My Memories Suite by Polaroid software which was one of the few software packages available for both PC and MAC (yes I love my mac). I was so excited to create my first photobook and got to work. I threw together a 12x12" Disney album in no time at all using a template they offered for download. I loved how I could add or remove the number of photos on each page and more importantly I could ADD tons of journalling where ever I wanted. Then ordering a photobook through the software was super easy and fast and I thought their photobook prices were very reasonable. I'm planning to create a companion DVD of our Disney vacation and include the videos we took of the kids. Then I'll slip it into a pocket in the front of the album!! So I hope to create more photobooks this year and just be glad I actually scrapbooked my memories!!

Mother's Day Card Ideas

Did you know creating cards in My Memories Suite is fast and easy?

Start off by creating a page from scratch that is either landscape or portrait. We pulled these create designs together to give you plenty of ideas for creating your own Mother's Day cards.

Being a Mother Card: Created with the Wildflower Pack by Miriam Lima. Tip: The circle with the quote was created using the "shape" tool and then the color picker to match the background color. Try adding a dark shadow below the scallop circle to really pop it off the card.

An Angel in Disguise: Created with the Mother's Life Template and Pack by Ettes & Company. Tip: This card was quick an easy because the beautiful word art is included and the paper strips. We then searched for "stitches" in our embellishment folder until we found the right ones.



Mother Dear: Created with the Pink Dahlia Pack by Legacy Digital Design. Tip: We placed a circle shape behind a couple of the flower embellishments to help them stand out a bit more. But our favorite part is dropping in a circle photo of "mom".



Happy Mother's Day Diva: Create with Domestic Diva Pack by Emily Taylor. We love how fun the illustrations look on this card. It was super easy to create and I love that the focus is the mom. We pulled a red background paper from a random kit, as well as the buttons.

A Mom Is Card: Created with A Mother's Life Template and Pack by Ettes & Company. Tip: Drop in your favorite photo of your mother and add a photo mat that you've color matched to something on the card. This is one of my favorites!!
