Designer Tip from ADB Designs

USING BACKGROUND PAPERS WITH MASKS

My Creative Team loves to use my masks both with photos (as expected) and with background papers (unexpected LOL). When you use paper with a mask you are creating a special look that is unique to your page!

This is easy to do. You will do it virtually the same way as you do with a photo. Make sure the mask is selected, and simply click on the paper icon in the embellishment control panel. It is the last icon in that panel.  Then scroll through your kits and pick your paper. Voila!

Here are some examples to help you expand your techniques:

In virtually every instance, the Layout Artist reduced the opacity slightly so that the background paper and the mask paper flow into each other seamlessly.  In other layouts, you will see the addition of blendables on top of the mask paper and the background paper to further the vintage look favored by my team. [Using Blendables was my designer tip Aug 8 - if you missed it before]

The two collections featured with these examples are:
I Wish You Love -- an older kit that I am putting on sale again for the readers of the blog!.  You can find it here.

Through The Lens of Time -- my most recent Heritage Collection. You can find it here.

AND I have a gift for you from Through The Lens of Time - a stacker, made with a mask to enhance the background paper.  Just click on the preview to go to my store.

Happy Scrapping!
Diane
