An Eye for Design: Using Design Principles to Create Stunning Pages

https://www.mymemoriesblog.com/search/label/An%20Eye%20for%20Design

Hi again fellow digi-scrappers! I’m Deborah from Digi Deborah Designs and I’m back with my Blog Series titled An Eye for Design. Today I’m going to talk about using Color vs. Black and White in your photos on a page layout. It’s definitely makes a striking difference.

I’m not one to judge anyone’s choice between color or B&W, I’m just offering a side by side comparison of the two. I happened to snap this photo of my Boxer pups just the other night, and I promise you, I did not stage this photo. You can tell why people call Boxers Velcro dogs. šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚

So without further ado, here is the layout I created. The first one is with the color photo and the second is with the black and white photo:

So personally, I am a fan of the layout with the B&W photo. But I’ve always liked B&W photos more than color photos anyway. That’s just me and you may feel different. Anyway, the next time you are thinking about mixing it up on a layout, try turning the photo from color to black & white. I think you’ll find the difference stunning!

And, for all the MyMemories Blog readers, I’ve created a gift for you that’s in my store right now. I’ve made this page into a Quick Page for you. And, wouldn’t you know it… it coordinates PERFECTLY with my newest Collection called Train Time. You can find the entire collection here: Train Time.

Here’s what the QP looks like:

Hi, and thanks for the lesson in contrast!

The link for the freebie takes me to a page with the same item, but a cost of $1.50. Is this the same item? Thanks!
