Use it All Challenge - Just a quick rotate for different look!

April Use It All Challenge at MyMemories

It’s time for the April Use It All Challenge at MyMemories!

Earlier this month, I shared a sample layout using the April Sisterhood Use It All mini — featuring a set of photos of myself and my sister. Today, I’m back with a second layout using that same mini to show just how easy it is to create a completely different look while still using every piece.

For this layout, I made a few simple changes that really shifted the overall feel:

• I rotated the striped paper 90°, which completely changed how that pattern reads on the page.
• I resized one of the papers to 2200 x 2200 and used it as a background piece, giving it a softer, more subtle presence.
• I used the eyedropper tool to pull a color from the confetti PNG and applied it to the mat behind the photo and the paper strip across it.

That small color adjustment adds just a bit of brightness and ties everything together, all while still using every paper included in the mini.

This is exactly what makes the Use It All Challenge so fun — you’re working with the same pieces, but small changes in rotation, scale, and color can give you a completely new result.

Let’s welcome QueenBrat Digital Designs as this week’s Featured Designer! Q&A With The Designer: QueenBrat Digital Designs 1.  How long have you been designing? I began designing in 2003 and began at MyMemories in 2012 (I think!).  I tried retirement last fall when life got totally crazy for me, but I can't retire.  I go stir crazy in this big old house with little to do.  So I'm back and guess I'm here until the good Lord says otherwise :) 2.  What is your favorite random fact? So how about some random food facts about WV foods... A specialty, the pepperoni roll, was invented in 1927 in the Country Club Bakery in Fairmont. It is served with a marinara sauce to dip it in. The authentic West Virginia Slaw dog is never served with any other sauces like ketchup. A steamed or grilled hotdog is served on bread with onions, coleslaw, and chili. For true mountaineers, their choice of breakfast is biscuits with gravy. A split buttermilk biscuit covered with a thick sausage gravy is good anywhere. Skillet Cornbread is another great favorite in West Virginia. It is served with a barbeque platter or crumbled into a plate of beans. 3.  Do you collect anything? I collect piggies,  Elvis memorabilia, and Jewel Tea Autumn Leaf china.  The Jewel Tea china collection was started by my grandmother, added to by my mother, and now is mine to add to.  So far I have added a salt and pepper set, a couple of bowls, and a glasses set that we didn't have and a few pieces that were duplicates. 4.  Your favorite toy as a child was? My favorite toy as a child was a stuffed gray dog with one ear that I called "Fatty".  He had one long white ear until I talked mom into cutting his ear into two parts and sewing it on so that he had two ears.  He was the cutest thing! 5.  What is the farthest you have ever traveled from home? I'm not much for traveling.  The furthest I've traveled from home is to Cocoa Beach, Florida for a weeks vacation.  It was beautiful!
