Get to know Diane of ADB Designs
I worked 33 years for a telephone company that started out as Mountain Bell and then went through numerous name changes along with numerous iterations of business definition. I retired in early 2001. In the last 15 years of my career, I traveled a great deal for work. I also completed my undergraduate degree and a master's degree. I was happy to leave the travel behind. I enjoy being home very much.

I was given a love for reading from my father, I also learned the joy of scrapbooking tied to genealogy and family history from him as well. My design style gravitates to heritage, vintage, historical collections that I use in my own genealogical albums.

I design for my brand: ADB Designs and I also design in partnership with my good friend, Patty Burmeister as: Over the fence Designs.  Patty & I live in the same small mid-western town of Blair, Nebraska. I live on a heavily treed 5 acre property within the city limits. Blair sits in the hills above the Missouri River on the eastern edge of Nebraska. It is a good place to call home.
What is your favorite season?
Autumn. I love the colors, the crisp evening air, the need to wear a light jacket and carry an umbrella. I love the wildlife that come to our property in autumn: turkeys, white tail deer, foxes ... it is a special time of year.

How long have you been designing?
I started designing in 2004 when my husband and I opened a Photography Studio  He had always been a professional photographer, working primarily as a medical photographer. It was time to branch out on his own again; I became the graphic designer and business manager.

What is the best meal you have ever eaten?
Jim & I and two other couples went to Alaska several years ago.  We stayed two days at Alyeska Resort and took the lift to the restaurant at the top of the mountain for dinner. The food was heavenly and the service was perfect. It was a meal with dear friends that I will never forget.

What is your favorite book?

My favorite book is usually the one I am reading right now.  I do have some favorite authors of fiction: James Mitchner, Diana Galabon, John Grisham, Leon Uris, and others.  Their books have never disappointed.  I read a lot of non-fiction, right now I am reading Melba Beal's Warriors Don't Cry, A Searing Memoir of the Battle to Integrate Little Rock's Central High.  Published in 1994, it is a deeply moving book and one that you won't easily forget.

What is the best gift you have been given?
The opportunity to care for my parents in my home the last 3 years of their lives. Assisted living was NOT a good fit for Mom and Dad. They wanted to try it, however, and discovered they needed a different option. Jim and I welcomed them into our home and it was a good fit.  There are adjustments to make, accommodations to devise and moments of struggle with the choices, but Jim & I still look back on those years as some of the best in our 38 years of marriage.
